Some would argue that they are the words that define us as human beings. In our interior accumulating sounds, words, and phrases that make us what we are. Even before birth we are integrating words. Children learn from our environment to mention everything that surrounds us. But we also learn to appreciate the sounds of our feelings, to look up the most personal words.
We learn also that there are words, sounds or words and sounds that heal hurt. Words of consolation or insult. Each language known examples. But surely beyond the strict words, the effects often depend on the tone, volume, the accompanying facial expression, body position. All of this influences the effects of words on the environment, but also about yourself. Be able to express in words moods, sensations and feelings, helps own internal balance. If words are a communication tool, it will be much more effective when more capable of expressing the thoughts and feelings of the participants. As a popular song says, is simple and tender words of love; but there are also words of hatred and rejection. The words are never neutral. It all depends on who and how they express themselves and say, hue and volume.
Words can also be polysemic themselves; ie, one word can describe different objects or actions. But there is also a multiple meaning in various dialects (a word you either meaning depending on where bone is pronounced), gender (usually the male of the word has a positive connotation and feminine negative) and intonation (the way as they say can change the meaning of a word). So we must be careful in choosing the words when we build a story to avoid misunderstandings.
We know that the words were never alone. And are tied together and strung sounds forming sentences. These may describe actions, activities, thoughts and feelings of any kind. And when the sentences overlap each other create speeches, narratives or stories, to be shared to help better understand the realities. This is one of the tasks of storytelling: bind words and phrases to express what you want to communicate. And that also means being aware of the different registers of each language (not the same family register of a formal register, or talk in a bar or in a job) and various dialectal forms.
But do not suffer too much. Can we confide their own capacity for empathy, create sentences and stories appropriate to the context almost automatically. Usually unconsciously adjust our words to the environment where we are at all times. When we start a story, a narrative that automation can work. Just being aware and can even flow. Every narration, every story can have the intention that you want to use linguistic resources and expression that, just, have learned throughhout our lives, but we are not completely aware.
Throw us to the storytelling experience. We share stories and experiences.
